AIChE鈥檚 Public Affairs and Information Committee (PAIC) is responsible for leading the Institute鈥檚 issues-based analyses and policy developments. This role involves not only communicating with government policymakers, but also helping members to communicate more effectively about issues that matter to chemical engineers and the public at large.

The April 2018 ChE in Context described approaches to use in these communications. Here, we review some of the channels and venues that AIChE and its members use for information exchange, along with examples of how AIChE members and PAIC use those channels to discuss timely topics related to policy and chemical engineers鈥 evolving roles.

In addition to articles about chemical engineering practice and the profession, CEP is an official source of news about the Institute and its activities. When PAIC or the AIChE Board of Directors develops a policy statement, CEP is the publication of record for such announcements. AIChE members have access to CEP online and also can propose ideas for issue-oriented articles to the CEP editors at cep@aiche.org.
