April 28th - REMADE issued its fifth, representing a $45 million investment in the research, development and demonstration of technologies to sustain American manufacturing and accelerate the U.S.'s transition to a Circular Economy.
Acting Assistant Secretary for Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Kelly Speakes-Backman said this investment is focused on reducing the nation's energy consumption, decreasing U.S. greenhouse gas emissions, fostering clean tech innovation, and addressing manufacturing's impact on climate change.

March 24th - The REMADE Institute has released its 2020 Impact Report. The report shows how the institute鈥檚 research projects are reducing embodied energy consumption, decreasing greenhouse gas emissions, creating jobs, generating business opportunities, and increasing the U.S.鈥檚 manufacturing competitiveness.
鈥淩EMADE鈥檚 work is moving the U.S. closer to the nation鈥檚 energy conservation and emissions reduction targets, both of which have received national attention in recent weeks,鈥� said Nabil Nasr, CEO of REMADE. 鈥淥ur experts are working every day to accelerate the U.S.鈥檚 transition to a Circular Economy.鈥�
Efforts are ongoing worldwide to move from today鈥檚 linear economy, where we take-make-dispose, to a Circular Economy, where we make-use-recycle. Reducing energy consumption and decreasing GHG emissions are major components of that transformation.
The impact report states that, over a five-year period, REMADE鈥檚 work is projected to enable:

saving 1 quad of energy, which equates to the electrical use by all U.S. households per year

reducing 50 million metric tons per year of greenhouse gas emissions, which equates to the combined emissions of approximately 3.2 million people in the U.S.

creating up to 700,000 direct and indirect jobs to increase the nation鈥檚 competitiveness
-
generating up to $50 billion in new business opportunities
The report also highlights REMADE鈥檚 work in all areas of the Circular Economy and measures the institute鈥檚 impacts in key sectors, including films and flexibles, paper and cardboard recycling, electronic waste, and heavy-duty equipment remanufacturing.

August 17th - The REMADE Institute announced the selection of 9 projects for negotiation dedicated to improving the competitiveness of U.S. Manufacturing and advancing the circular economy.
These projects align with REMADE鈥檚 mission to drive down the cost of technologies essential to reuse, recycle and remanufacture materials such as metals, fibers, polymers and electronic waste. This is expected to save the U.S. manufacturing base billions in energy costs and will strengthen the nation鈥檚 economic competitiveness through cutting-edge innovation. REMADE is pursuing this mission by enabling early stage applied research and development of key industrial platform technologies that could dramatically reduce the embodied energy and carbon emissions associated with industrial-scale materials production and processing.

August 6th - Over the last few months, and with newly discovered spare time, many Americans have shifted their focus to the home and how to clean up, organize and downsize. With these efforts, inevitably comes the push to recycle more to better the world for generations to come. It is incredibly important for businesses to build on this momentum and do more, not less, to commit to circular economy solutions.
A survey conducted by The Recycling Partnership and SWNS has concluded that 85% of Americans strongly believe in recycling and 7 in 10 Americans said they would go out of their way to support a company that makes strong efforts to be sustainable.
