Tour Location: The Panda Patriot Power Project is a clean natural gas-fueled, 829-megawatt combined-cycle generating station. Once built, the plant is expected to supply the power needs of up to 1 million homes and is expected to make a significant contribution to the area's economy. In combined-cycle generation, heat exhaust from one or more (natural gas-fueled) combustion turbines is captured and used to create steam which, in turn, is supplied to a steam turbine. Pairing the different generating technologies together (natural gas and steam) allows for maximum operating efficiency.
