
Thomas Hager writes about the ways that science and technology affect our lives. As a strong advocate for better science communication, he has been an invited lecturer and visiting scholar at numerous universities, and has spoken to groups ranging from the American Association for the Advancement of Science to the Goddard Space Center, Fortune 500 corporate boards, medical gatherings, and school and civic organizations.
His media appearances include C-Span鈥檚 鈥淏ookTV鈥 and National Public Radio鈥檚 鈥淲eekend Edition,鈥 鈥淪cience Friday,鈥 and 鈥淭ech Nation.鈥 He is the author of eleven books and more than 100 articles, published in a spectrum of periodicals. His most recent book, The Alchemy of Air, was a Kirkus 鈥淏est Book of The Year鈥 and Borders 鈥淥riginal Voices鈥 selection.
Hager is currently a Courtesy Associate Professor of Journalism and Communication at the University of Oregon, where he has also served as Director of Communications and Marketing, and Director of the University of Oregon Press. He earned a Master鈥檚 degree in medical microbiology and immunology from the Oregon Health Sciences University, and a Master鈥檚 degree in journalism from the University of Oregon.
