Rafael Sánchez-Cohen is a Senior R&D Engineer at IntraMicron, Inc., where he supports manufacturing scale-up, sulfur recovery commercialization, and process development for microfibrous media in CO2-to-fuel applications. He has over 22 years of experience in the oil and gas and bioenergy sectors, specializing in crude oil upgrading, gas-to-liquid (GTL) conversion, and sulfur recovery. Prior to IntraMicron, he held senior technical roles at PDVSA, where he led support for extra heavy crude upgraders and directed R&D in delayed coking, catalytic emulsions, and visbreaking. He also managed PDVSA’s Expertise Group for Crude Oil Upgrading and built a company-wide innovation system. Sánchez-Cohen holds a BS in chemical engineering from UNIMET Venezuela, an MSc in chemical engineering from Auburn Univ., and an MSc in refining, engineering & gas from IFP School in France. His strengths include process R&D, economic modeling, and commercialization of intensified technologies across global energy markets.
