Phil leads the Biotechnology & Bioprocessing team at Solugen, where he oversees the engineering and scale-up of the company鈥檚 biocatalyst production technologies. Under his leadership, the team has successfully advanced processes from lab-scale prototypes to full commercial manufacturing, enabling real-world applications for customers. Prior to joining Solugen in 2020, Phil was an early team member at Hexagon Bio, where he contributed to the development of highly automated heterologous expression platforms for the discovery of novel therapeutics. He holds an MS in Biotechnology and a PhD in Food Chemistry from the University of M眉nster, Germany, and completed postdoctoral research in Nancy P. Keller鈥檚 lab at the University of Wisconsin鈥揗adison. With over a decade of experience in fungal biotechnology, Phil has authored more than 30 publications and patents in the field.
