
DARREN MALIK joined BakerRisk in 2010 after graduating from Texas A&M Univ. with an MS in mechanical engineering and a bachelor’s degree in nuclear engineering. Malik’s primary technical focus is on the development and application of empirical, analytical, and numerical models for the characterization of flammability and explosion phenomena. In 2019, he played a key role in establishing BakerRisk’s Low Carbon Energy service offerings, leading initiatives focused on hydrogen and hydrogen carriers. Malik is also responsible for coordination and oversight of all BakerRisk testing operations. This includes the materials laboratory at the corporate headquarters in San Antonio, the 160-acre Wilfred E. Baker Test Facility (WEBTF), and the 2,300-acre Box Canyon Test Facility (BCTF). As a certified fire and explosion investigator (CFEI), Malik supports and/or leads the investigation of accidental industrial fires and explosions as well as other related near-miss incidents.
